ABB launches the world’s fastest EV charger.

Key points

  • Can deliver 100km of range in less than three minutes.

  • Maximum output of up to 360 kW.

  • The charger is designed to charge up to four vehicles at once.

  • Ideal for refueling stations, urban charging stations, retail parking, and fleet applications.

  • Terra 360 chargers are fully customised and can be branded.

Swedish-Swiss global technology company ABB Ltd. is preparing to roll out the first of its ultra-fast charging stations in a matter of weeks, providing enough power in less than three minutes to charge any electric car to drive 100 kilometers.

The rollout of the Terra 360 stations, where a single charger can feed electricity into four vehicles at once, is starting in Europe before the end of the year and will spread to North and South America as well as Asia in 2022.

ABB’s new Terra 360 is a modular charger that can simultaneously charge up to four vehicles with dynamic power distribution. This means that drivers will not have to wait if somebody else is already charging ahead of them, they simply pull up to another plug. The new charger has a maximum output of 360 kW and is capable of fully charging any electric car in 15 minutes or less, meeting the needs of a variety of EV users.

Its innovative lighting system guides the user through the charging process and shows the State of Charge (SoC) of the EV battery and the residual time before the end of an optimal charge session. Terra 360 chargers are fully customised and can be ‘branded’ by using different foiling or changing the color of the LED light strips. There is also the option to include an integrated 27” advertisement screen to play video and pictures.

ABB high-power chargers are already being deployed around the world through the company’s partnerships with international charging operators such as IONITY and Electrify America.
