Mercedes develops a flexible & portable charging system for EQ models.

Updated: Aug 13, 2021

Mercedes-Benz has created a charging solution for anyone who does a lot of driving in an electric vehicle and therefore needs variable options for charging it. The kit includes various adapters for household sockets and industrial sockets as well as for public charging points and wallboxes, all of which can be connected to the Flexible Charging System or the control unit via 'plug and play'. The system features an integrated Type 2 connector, so allowing the vehicle to be charged at up to 22 kW from any AC source.

Mercedes states the kit compatible with all current and future models of electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz AG. With this compact, portable charging solution, owners will always have exactly the system that is needed in the car boot - whether at home, in the underground car park at work, or when travelling outside the larger cities within Australia.

The various adapters can be conveniently plugged in at the adapter separation point. The system automatically detects the different adapters and adjusts the charging power accordingly. The maximum charging power of the Flexible Charging System is 22 kW, although this can also be adjusted manually if so required.

This flexible charging system is packed in a high-quality case in which all accessories neatly find their place, so putting an end to the tangle of all the different charging cables in the boot. Accessories include a five-metre extension cable, a security lock and a wall-mounted holder; all adapters are also available separately. Currently, we don't have any information on the availability and the pricing for Australia.
