True excitement on 2 wheels from Energica electric motorcycles

Energica electric motorcycles is relatively new to the scene, having entered the electric motorcycle business in 2009. However, Energica is a subsidiary of the CRP Group, which has been a leader in manufacturing for the motorsports industry for over 45 years.

In 2009, the opportunity to develop a fully electric racing motorcycle was taken, and hence the eCRP project was born. After two years of racing, the Group started working on a road-legal electric bike. Thanks to the CRP technologies developed for aerospace and F1, the Energica project was born.

The Energica EGO burst on the scene at EICMA (Milan Motorcycle Show) in 2013. It was then a culmination of years of electric racing competition, with numerous victories including the 2010 European Championship during the first zero-carbon TTXGP competition and runner-up for the 2011 TTXGP World Championship.

In 2018 Dorna selected Energica to be a single manufacturer for three years (since extended to four) for the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup. These all-electric races at iconic MotoGP circuits all over Europe feature 12 international teams, fielding 18 race pilots on identically prepared EGO Corsa racing machines. As a result, Energica had three more years of intensive technical development at the highest possible level for performance and sophistication of any electric motorcycle in the world.

Last year Energica launched our 21.5 kWh battery platform to the public, adding to its original and unique features of superb power, top speed and DC Fast Charging with the longest range of any electric motorcycle you can buy. The ”RS Version” upped the ante with even better acceleration than ever before.

And now the EMCE motor and inverter, Energica state, they have done it again with another incremental yet fundamental revolution in electric propulsion. The new EMCE Motor and Inverter, a significant step forward in electric propulsion for motorcycles. EMCE is a wholly new HSM motor and inverter exclusively co-engineered by Energica and Mavel.

The motor and inverter now share a liquid-cooling system, resulting in a simpler and more effective design with reduced size and greater thermal efficiency. The benefits are: lighter weight and a lower center of gravity for enhanced agility; higher peak performance; increased range especially at higher speeds; and substantially reduced maintenance intervals.

Energica during the last decade has taken a long series of “firsts” in EV technology thanks to our unique racing experience, including three years in the very demanding FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup.

These included the first motorcycle DC Fast Charger; a 21.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that is still the largest of any bike; top speed, power and torque that are all to this day unmatched by any competitor at any price.

This year they have also launched the RS Version with more off-the-line acceleration for fanatics who thought 2.8 seconds at 0-100 kmh was too slow.

Looks like things are becoming “electrifying” within the motorcycle world and hopefully we’ll see something like this in Australia soon.
